Recover your iPod MP3s

Glorf.

I've got that utility for you. Check the downloads page.

There are some restrictions. It will /only/ get mp3 files. no WMA or any shit like that.

If ther metadata has jacked up characters in it (. or \) it will fail to copy that song.

Install with setup.exe
Launch it, click the top button, plug in your ipod, select the drive in the top box, select the destination folder in the bottom box, check the options you want for song title and click go.

There is no timer or anything to make it pretty, so the box is going to go blank white while it's copying all your punk-ass files.

Tested it on my computer, and on Saleigh's computer also, so I know the COM dependancies install correctly. Be sure to unrar the files before running setup. I know that can cause it to fahk itself in the face.

If you have any problems with the install, or anything else, let me know.

Oh, no. This was just a 1-way recovery. Just something to let you pull your shit back off and have it be identified.

Not trying to replace i-tunes at all. Haven't even looked at the ipod's configuration files to see how it's told what to read/display, so I don't even know if it's possible to load an ipod... well, I mean, I know it's possible, but possible for me.

Yeah, really that's what it's about, being able to plug your ipod into another computer and still have access to your tunes.

ok Prime... you taking suggestions on modifications?

1. pull out all characters in the artist name/album/title that cannot be used in a file name
2. grab a list of all the artists before hand and allow the user to select which bands they want to "recover". (check box?) (I have several ideas on how this could be accomplished easily...)
3. Platypus Logos!

That all sounds reasonable.

The only thing is that I suck at arts.

I can slap an eyepatch on one of the existing logos or something, but if you want something cooler than that, say a platypus spurring a CD/DVD/iPod, you're going to need to send me the artwork.
